From breeding to delivery, support at every step.
Bergerac Seed & Breeding produces and markets certified tobacco and hemp seed meeting the highest quality standards. From production in multiplication fields through to final packaging, every step follows rigorous protocols guaranteeing the varietal identity, specific purity and agronomic performance of the seed.

Certified seed, checked lot by lot
Bergerac Seed & Breeding produces and markets certified tobacco and hemp seed meeting the highest quality standards. From production in multiplication fields through to final packaging, every step follows rigorous protocols guaranteeing the varietal identity, specific purity and agronomic performance of the seed.
Every lot undergoes thorough checks including analyses of varietal purity, germination capacity and sanitary quality and, where required, verification of the absence of GMOs. Our chemical analysis capabilities and quality control tools allow us to guarantee that seed complies with regulatory requirements and with our customers’ specifications.
Our seed is available raw or pelleted to suit different production methods. Thanks to our expertise in international logistics, we ship seed to many countries, with full support on regulatory, phytosanitary, customs and documentary matters.

Varieties designed for your objectives

Our team supports manufacturers, trade organisations and research institutes in developing new varieties suited to their needs. Every programme is built to measure around the partner’s objectives: creating new lines, improving resistance to diseases and pests, adapting to specific production environments, or developing targeted chemical profiles.
All our programmes rely exclusively on conventional variety breeding methods, without recourse to GMOs or to new genome editing techniques. To accelerate breeding and make it more reliable, we combine classical breeding approaches with advanced scientific tools: molecular marking to track genetic traits, pathological evaluations in the laboratory and on artificially infested plots, and chemical analyses carried out in our laboratory equipped with a UPLC (Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography) system. This integrated approach allows us to develop high-performing varieties while guaranteeing the scientific robustness of the results.

Every step follows rigorous protocols.

Trials, evaluations and high-precision analyses
Bergerac Seed & Breeding supports its partners in designing, running and analysing agronomic trials, in France and internationally. We carry out variety trials, experiments on crop management practices, evaluations in greenhouses and on float trays, and trials under production conditions in order to characterise variety behaviour across different soil and climate contexts.
Our teams also conduct evaluations of resistance to diseases, pests and nematodes, under natural conditions or on artificially infested plots, as well as high-precision chemical analyses carried out in our laboratory equipped with a UPLC system. The data collected is analysed using rigorous statistical methods in order to give our partners reliable results, directly usable for their breeding, variety development or technical decisions.
